Come experience a traditional fireside cookout done the way island folk used to in years gone by. This exciting journey starts with a drive on the Caribbean side, passing through a few small villages along the way, as we head to that refreshing, inviting river, where clean spring water pops from the earth in the mountains of the Rain Forest. Here we gather some of the natural resources the land yields: wood for the fire, water from the spring, bamboo for shade, seats, spoons and cups, even calabash to be used as bowls. Play a game of cricket, take a hike up the river, catch a mark (crayfish) or two, or observe the master cook as he busies himself stirring up a “finger licking” meal of chicken, crab and provision, all done with the true “long- time sweet-hand”, of course.
As the fun continues, all willing hands assist in cleaning up as we bring to a close a very interesting and unique day, as you can truly say, I’d been to Tobago.
You may wish to take along walking shoes or flat strap-on sandals, camera, swimwear, sun block and insect repellant. |
